Kristin, Up Close and Personal

I’ve always had a passion for interior design.  My father was a contractor and both he and my brother were super handy around the house.  I remember at such a young age I would create home and living spaces out of blocks and other things I could get my hands on.  My barbie townhouse got way more attention than my barbie itself and I started decorating my room including painting my furniture by the time I was 8.  I was also highly sensitive child with a very compromised immune system. I was constantly getting sick and we thought this was just because I was a sensitive artist and a bit of “black sheep” in the family if you will.   I didn’t find out until decades later that a summer at camp was my downfall. I was bitten by a tick that gave me Lyme disease. Unfortunately it is a common misconception that one gets a bulls-eye rash when bitten but it’s only common 30% of the time.  I had no idea I was bit at the time but I immediately had a high fever for days, then I had 8 strep throat infections within the next year. I was doused with antibiotics which compromised my immune system even more. I continued to have health problems all growing up and everyone thought I was simply depressed  By the time I reached my twenties, things weren’t getting much better except my gift of intuition I could see and hear things that others couldn’t, plus I felt emotions in others. At first I thought it was a curse but now I see it as one of my greatest gifts as I help so many people overcome debilitating symptoms.  This also led me on a holistic journey and I dove into every alternative healing method I could find. I became trained as a clairvoyant practitioner so not only could I learn to read other’s energy,, but I also had many tools to harness my own. Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) EFT and Faster EFT, Psych-K, Theta Healing, Holotropic Breathwork, quantum physics, mysticism, meditation, yoga are just a small sampling of the practices I studied.  Simultaneously, and on my good days, I became really passionate about design. I didn’t study it in college initially as I had some type of “programming” that made with think it was superficial. Knowing what I know now, having a beautiful, well-designed, organized space is fundamental. If your house is in a “deficit’ state, i.e. disorderly, dirty, full of chemical and now sense of flow, it is impossible for one’s spirit to thrive. In 2008, I had a flood in my home as well as a client’s. The mold exposure worsened  my symptoms to the point of debilitation and then I realized that it’s not just the aesthetics and order of a home that is crucial, but keeping the home free of mold and other toxic compounds that are so prevalent is as well. For many years now, I have been operating two companies, Kristin Kilmer Design and Kristin Kilmer Wellness but the needs for one another are constantly overlapping. With chronic health issues on the rise and with increased awareness of the effect of poor diet, stress, and environmental toxin, there is even more of a need for all -encompassing health and wellness in home and body with luxurious resources to lift the spirit as well.  This is why, Kristin Kilmer Life + Style has come to fruition.
